Officials at the Cape Lookout National Seashore are looking to get ahead of the curve when it comes to off-road vehicle management at the seashore.
A meeting was held Monday night to inform the public on possible alternatives to protect wildlife and other resources on site. The current plan dates back to 1972 and is out of date.
Plans for Cape Lookout come as those for and against beach driving along the Cape Hatteras National Seashore face a court imposed Friday deadline to reach an agreement.

Posted by: Melissa Location: Ocracoke-lover on Apr 8, 2008 at 11:42 PM I don't think that the impact on the economy is being considered. At a time when it's already bad, why take away more? The beaches of North Carolina have brought in huge revenues for this state. Why change this? Consider the state of the economy and how this will set us back even further.

Posted by: fisherchick Location: nc on Apr 8, 2008 at 10:32 AM With careful management the beach can be a place for animals and people to enjoy. A few crazy nuts go over there once in awhile and mess it up for everyone. Maybe more strict punishment should be in place for people who can't enjoy the area and be environmentally friendly!!!
