WHAT WE DO

During the spring months, and occasionally in the fall, we volunteer our vehicles and manpower
to help the beach managers do whatever work needs to be done at the time, whether it be
beach cleanups, pick up any debris deposited by mother nature's storms and/or irresponsible
people, or dune restoration projects. We also meet with beach managers to keep the lines of
communications open, in case any questions or concerns may arise. We also attend
symposiums and maintain a booth in sportsman shows to help distribute information about
ourselves and the beaches that allow vehicle access. The information we pass out is the
beach access policies, rules and regulations, and of course, most of the conversations are
about fishing and beach access problems.
We also get involved in political activities, whether it be the State House or Washington DC. At times we find that we have to go on our
own to the state and federal legislatures to keep them informed as to what is going right, and occasionally what is not right, regarding
beach access and other issues important to our members.
OUR EVENTS & WHAT WE DO FOR OUR MEMBERS

SPRING MEET

During the year we hold 2 events for our members, the first is the Spring Meet. This is held
during May and is a whole weekend; there is a general meeting to conduct general
business, and the rest of the weekend is for fun and reuniting old acquaintances.

The Spring Meet is mainly for the kids which include games, casting, fishing and poster
contests, 25 cent hot dog dinner and a dance on Saturday night, and another casting
contest on Sunday.

FALL BANQUET

The second event is the Fall Banquet, usually held in November. This is the evening when we
have our annual election of officers and general business meeting, followed by dinner and
dancing.

MBBA BEACH CONSERVATION PROJECTS

During the spring months and occasionally in the fall, we volunteer our vehicles
and manpower for hands-on conservation projects.

It’s a great way for the family to come together in a rewarding and educational
endeavor that benefits everyone who uses the beaches.

The projects consist of: trash & debris pick up, erosion control fencing (sometimes),
grass planting (sometimes), and other projects of this type as required by the
specific beach or area.

We bring work gloves, warm clothes, a shovel (optional), a hammer (optional), other items that
we think would be helpful.

The projects start around 9:30AM and end at around noontime when we gather together as a
group for refreshments.

Directions to each beach and a schedule are available each spring at the sportsman shows,
on our website and by contacting the conservation chairman.
