YIPEE!!! At our monthly meeting on December 17, 2008, I was elected as Vice President of the Massachusetts Striped Bass Association, the largest and oldest saltwater fishing club open to the public in New England.
PERSONAL MILESTONE: In April of 2008, I completed a training course that certified me as a Master Instructor in the Angler Education Program run by the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries & Wildlife. I am now one of about 130 certified instructors state-wide that volunteer to help teach kids how to fish and use proper conservation tactics and teach them about fishing safety and ethics.
INTERNET MILESTONE: I set up my online photo storage site in July of 2001 and purchased my domain name shortly after that. As of June 2, 2009, I've had 508,614 viewers of my pictures. I rank #13 of 137,735 members in the web storage site for views.
MY CAREER My full-time job is working for the Town of Hingham, MA running a public utility. I have worked for the Town since 1987 and was promoted to my current position of Supervisor in 1991. I have run the day-to-day operations of the department since then, reporting directly to three elected officials. In 2005, I was presented with the Employee Recognition Award by the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen given out annually to one town employee.
HOBBIES PHOTOGRAPHY I have been an avid photographer for the past 25-years. In the past 6-years, I have taken over 85,000 pictures with my digital cameras. I primarily take still photos consisting of scenery, nature and wildlife. I have filmed approximately a dozen weddings, several birthday parties and countless community events including the swearing in ceremonies of Town officials, the Chief of Police and the Fire Chief. I've had several of my photos published in local Annual Town Reports, on municipal websites, in local newspapers and on area business and restaurant websites.
FISHING I have been a freshwater fisherman for several years, spending most of my time either in my kayak, canoe or float tube. I primarily fish for largemouth bass throughout MA. Plymouth is my favorite fishing destination because it has the most ponds of any town within 50-miles of where I live. A while ago, a friend of mine got me back in to saltwater fishing, now I take part in several fishing tournaments from Maine to Rhode Island representing the Massachusetts Striped Bass Association. Last weekend, May 29-31st, the MSBA finished in 1st and 2nd place in the first leg of the Tri-State Tournament in Cape Cod.
SNOWMOBILING I have been into snowmobiling for the past 7 years. I spend a lot of time in Wompatuck State Park, a 4000-acre park located within snowmobiling distance from my house. We do a lot of riding in Erving State Forest in Orange, MA and Mount Greylock in Adams, MA. Mt. Greylock is the highest peak in Massachusetts. Each year, several friends go up to Maine and New Hampshire for long weekends and spend countless hours trail riding, jumping and racing across lakes. Stark, NH and Rangeley Lake in Maine are the most common places we go.
AFFILIATIONS MASSACHUSETTS STRIPED BASS ASSOCIATION Aside from being the Vice President, I'm also the photographer and webmaster for the MSBA. I am also the Monthly Entertainment Chairman, I am on the Annual Sportfishing EXPO Committee and help with membership drives for the club. MSBA is the oldest and largest saltwater fishing club open to the public in New England. With over 400 members, we are very active in the community holding charity events, performing herring run clean-ups, toy drives for Children's Hospital and teaching sound conservation practices.
